High Tatras

With Lucas we agreed to go to Tatra mountains. He had couple days off and I needed to reach Krakow in couple days, so Tatra was on the way for me. We walked outside the city and started hitchhiking. Waited some time and hopped in the car. When I was hitchhiking alone I got drivers who don´t speak English at all, but when I was with him the driver spoke English. Bloody hell. And we hit a deer on the way :/
Yay mountains on da left
Yay I saw snow :)
<3
The driver dropped us in Poprad and from there we took a bus. In the bus station I saw Torres :D

We reached Tatra mountains in an hour with a bus and went to our hostel "The Ginger Hostel". Changed my clothes and went with Nina to walk the dog. Well I just wanted to reach the high peaks

Saw some bear prints, was a bit scary. Reminded myself what to do when meeting a bear (make a lots of noise, DON´T bloody run away)

It was bloody windy..
Yay reached the top where I set my goal to. It would get dark soon so I didn´t want to get lost and meet bears.. But I definitely will go back and reach the highest peaks
Manger-ish thingy
But it had holes, so I am not sure what it was for
On the way down

For water to pass, like a drain, so it wouldn´t make the road too muddy

The water was so clear and blue

In total I hiked ~10 km in 3-4 hours and max altitude 1173 m
Came back to the hostel, showered, picked Lucas up and went to a restaurant
His food. In Slovakia you have to buy everything separately, potatoes, salad, sauce etc. It is not common to have a ready meal in the menu where is everything included
In the hostel were mostly people from Canada, US and Australia. We were drinking Tatra tea and we were using this trowel for it. IT´S DRINK O´CLOCK!! We played cards against humanity as well. Did not know what many cards meant and ofc they knew because they were native speakers.. Kayy :D
This is soo useful! It should be in every hostel
Drinking game
Added some stuff
And there was a doggo <3
I woke up at 06:00 to film the sunrise, but it was cloudy so I did not get anything recorded. Went back to sleep and wake at 9. Breakfast (white bread, Nutella and eggs). Packed my belongings and threw away some clothes. Waited until the rain stopped and went out 11.55, walked 1,4 km and started hitchhiking 12.15. The Ginger Hostel was really cool, recommend. It was chill, cozy and there was everything what you need
Can´t see the peaks
Trying to hitchhike to Krakow. Fucking no one picked me up.. One car stopped but did not want where I would like to go. And there was the language barrier as well.. Maybe I would get closer, but couldn´t understand them.. Waited half an hour and then got on. The guy was from Ukraine and now works there somethingsomething. Tried to speak Russian but njetu. He noticed pretty fast that I have a ring on my marriage finger and asked me about it. I wanted to tell him it´s my school ring, but I couldn´t so I tried to tell "da, moja muž" blablabla. Just before he dropped me off in Novy Targ, he offered me money to do something with him. Fucking hell no... I really thought those are just scary stories and will not happen to me, that they happen super rarely, but no. Fucking Slovakia..
So he dropped me off in that small city and I was thinking should I hitchhike more or take a bus. Decided for the bus. Ticket cost 13 zl aka 3 €. It was a hassle to take money out from the atm, but whatever
Off to Krakow

Žilina

Well, going to Zilina was an adventure. Not an adventure actually. I don´t know how to call it.
I was hitchhiking from Nitra. The guy did not speak English and I didn´t speak Slovak/Cz/Polish/Russian/etc. There is more to come to that story, but I am not going to write it. When people asked me if something had happened while I was hitchhiking I always said no. But now I can´t say it anymore.. Fucking arse. Nothing happened, I was just frightened and surprised because I thought those are just stories lets say. That fat disguisting man dropped me off at Prievidza and I was really happy to get out. I was scared to hitchhike again, but I did it. Second guy was okay, did not have the same language again :D I was scared that he wants something from me aswell, but he didn´t. Luckily. We went to eat together actually :D
It was super fancy place, probably the fanciest place I have even been to #Maakas
Bloody crosses on the doors #Atheist
Da toilet
And some free stuff #CheapBitch
He dropped me off and once again I was hitchhiking. 3rd guy also was okay (he didn´t know where Estonia was...) and ofc he didn´t speak English.. All the Slovakkians don´t speak English or what? In Serbia I was pleasantly surprised that so many people spoke English.
The last guy dropped me off next to the building where my host volunteers. Met up with Lucas, the guy I was staying with (#CouchSurfing). Drank Kofola (Cz Coca-Cola), went to eat and went to have a cuppa of tea. The tea place was so cozy :) At his place we watched a movie called Mr.Loney. The movie didn´t make sence to me
Next day Lucas showed me the city. Burgher houses
Some square
Magic bar
I was thinking to go up to the hill, but for some reason I didn´t.. Main square
The church of 3 principals
Went to one art show where they showed how the process goes step by step

Went inside to nova synagoga
Renovation has been going on for 6 years and 95% is already done

Once it was used as a cinema aswell, now it will be a culture house
From outside looks the same as now
Went to another exhibition. Sah small piano
Nice balcony
Dorothea Lange. California. 1935. Cotton picker
Ben Shahn. Mississippi. 1935. Loading cotton
Dorothea Lange. California. 1935. Off to the melon fields
Russell Lee. Missouri. 1938. Father of FSA client
Dorothea Lange. Texas. 1938. This house is occupied; most of the houses in this district have been abandoned
It was really hot weather so we went to have a drink
Lol in da toilet. Hey fatty boom boom

As I remember, there was a guy up there which looked like Lenin
Went exploring, saw some trains which doors were open
Didn´t want to spend too much time inside, cos I was afraid the doors will close :D

Getting bigger and bigger
Budatin castle
We were chilling by the river cos the weather was nice. Water wasn´t so warm tho
Vah river

Yay GoPro

Went with Lucas to the place he is voulnteering in. We took a shortcut and crossed some train tracks
Weird slides in Slovakia
Lahke means kind in Estonian
I was in Zilina for 2 nights and on the last morning, me and Lukas hitchhiked to Tatra mountains. He had couple days off so he joined me. We walked to the end of the city and thumbs up. Waited quite long, but was worth waithing. Off to Tatra mountains!
